Witness gunned down in St Catherine

The St Catherine South police have identified the man that was murdered near Old Harbour, St Catherine, by unknown person/s yesterday.

Dead is Leroy Blackwood, labourer, of Red Ground district in St Catherine.

Reports are that about 8:30 a.m. residents of Red Ground heard explosions in the area. The residents made checks and Blackwood's body was seen lying in a pool of blood.

The police were summoned to the area.

Checks by the police revealed that Blackwood was shot six times, three to face and three to the back of his head.

The Old Harbour police released Blackwood's identity and confirmed that Blackwood was a witness in a murder case that is currently before the St Catherine Parish Court.

The police have launched a probe into the matter.
