Canadian woman held with drugs at airport

A Canadian woman was taken into police custody at the Sangster International Airport for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act on Sunday.

She has been identified as 40-year-old Kendra Priestley of Ontario, who has been charged with attempting to export cocaine.

Reports are that about 5:45 p.m. police officers, with the assistance of narcotic dogs, were conducting checks at the airport when they were alerted to a suitcase that was set to depart to Canada.

It was later identified by the accused. It was searched and found to contain cocaine amounting to six pounds. The drug has an estimated street value of J$2.5 million.

Priestley is set to appear before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, May 17.
