A St Catherine woman who is accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy was remanded when she appeared in the Linstead Chapter of the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

When the case was mentioned before Parish Judge Natalie Brooks, the matter was postponed until tomorrow.

The woman, who is in her 30s, is charged with indecent assault and sexual touching by the St Catherine North police following a report made by the infant's mother.

It is alleged that the woman, who is a family friend, went for a visit at the victims' home. The court heard that she was reportedly left alone with the child. However, the boy's mother returned unexpectedly and saw the woman half-naked trying to sexually molest the child.

As a result, a report was made to the police and the woman taken into police custody. She was later charged.
