Five held for gun still not charged

Up to late last night, the East Kingston police had still not charged any of five men held in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm loaded with several rounds of ammunition in Vineyard Town, Kingston, on Friday, the police said.

Police said the five men, whose identities are being withheld pending further investigation, have been charged but they are still being questioned.

Reports from the Constabulary Communications Unit are that at about 10:45 p.m., the Mountain View police were conducting an operation in Bonnie View, Vineyard Town, when they searched a premises and found one Sig Sauer pistol containing nine 9mm rounds hidden behind a barrel.

Investigations into the find continue.
