Dispute over garbage leads to murder charge

A St Catherine man has been slapped with a charge of murder arising from a dispute over the disposal of garbage.

Charged with murder is Owano Warmington of Portsmouth, Portmore St Catherine.

Allegations are that on April 27, Warmington reportedly dumped garbage near the gate of Dwayne Brown.

The St Catherine Parish Court was on Tuesday told that Brown reprimanded Warmington over his action. An argument ensued and it escalated into a fight. It is alleged that Warmington pulled a knife and stabbed Brown in the upper body.

Brown was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died from injuries received in the incident.

The court was told that Warmington fled the scene but later surrendered to the police.

Warmington appeared before Parish Judge Natalee Brooks yesterday where his attorney-at-law made a successful bail application on his behalf.

As a condition of his bail, Warmington is to relocate to Vineyard Town in Kingston. He has also been ordered to surrender his travel documents. His bail was set at $150,000 with surety.

Warmington is booked to reappear in court on August 16.
