Threat level against police officers high - cops

File Police take hold of an Uzi submachine gun that was recovered during the joint police-military operation in a community called 'Crusher' in east rural St Andrew recently.

The Police High Command says the threat level against police officers is high and has told members to take precautions to protect themselves and their families.

The caution from the High Command followed the shooting of a district constable attached to the Detention and Courts Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) yesterday.

The Constabulary Communications Unit said that the cop was travelling along Maxfield Avenue in St Andrew when he was shot and injured.

He was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.
