More water for St Bess, Trelawny

Several communities in Trelawny and St Elizabeth are set to benefit from improved water supplies.

The Government has signed a contract for major works on phase two of the Hounslow Water Supply Rehabilitation and Upgrading Project for the replacement of pipes from the Hounslow Well to Newell Square.

The contract, valued at $63.2 million, will benefit the communities of Hounslow, Newell, Watchwell, Williamsfield, Hopewell, Short Hill, Great Bay, Calabash Bay and Fort Charles.

A similar $63 million contract has been been signed for the replacement of transmission mains from the Baron Hill Reservoir to Samuel Prospect.

The upgrading works is expected to improve the supply of potable domestic water in Trelawny.
