Woman on cocaine charge granted bail

June 01, 2016

A St Catherine woman allegedly caught with cocaine weighing four pounds, was granted bail in the sum $160,000 in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

Charged with possession of cocaine is Shanique Morrison of Ellerslie Pen in Spanish Town.

When the matter came up for mention, Attorney-at-Law Sean Kinghorn made a successful bail application. He said his client had cooperated with the police and is not a flight risk.

Judge Jacqueline Wilcott granted bail on condition that the accused reports to the Spanish Town Police Station three times per week, and be home from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.

She is also required to surrender her travel documents and reappear in court on July 26 when the matter will again be mentioned.

Allegations are that, on May 17, the Spanish Town police conducted an operation in Ellerslie Pen. Up on approaching a house, it is said Morrison fled from the premises.

Accompanied by her attorney, she later surrendered to the police and was subsequently charged.
