The Jamaican Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has temporarily suspended the driver who was involved in the removal of a child from a bus after he apparently defecated on himself.

Granville Newell, media specialist at the JUTC, said investigations into the incident, which reportedly took place last week, are currently under way. He said that the driver has been taken off duty until a report has been completed.

"He has never been faced with such situation, so we have to be considerate of the fact that he was under pressure from the passengers to put the child off the bus," Newell said.

Reginald Allen, acting marketing and communications manager, also expressed support for the driver in the incident.

"No doubt, he was trying to bring comfort to the passengers on a whole, but in doing so, it appears that he did not appreciate that he had a similar duty to the boy, even in his unpleasant state," Allen said.
