15-year-old boy held with gun, ammunition

Up to press time last night, the St Catherine police were still processing a 15-year-old boy who was held with a firearm and multiple live rounds of ammunition in the parish yesterday.

Details surrounding the incident were scarce, but an officer at the police's Corporate Communications Unit told THE STAR that the boy was accosted by the police in the Waterford area of the parish at about 3:24 p.m.

He was found carrying a gun of an unspecified make, along with 15 rounds of ammunition, the police said.

Up to late last night, charges were yet to be laid against the boy as his parents had not been located.

Investigations into the gun seizure are ongoing.
