J'can woman charged for strangling her kids
Authorities have arrested a Philadelphia woman after she admitted to strangling two of her children in Miramar, Florida, on Wednesday.
According to www.6abc.com, a 40-year-old Philadelphia woman, who reportedly has two adult children living in Jamaica, has been charged with murder in the deaths of her 7-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter during a visit to South Florida.
Reports are that Sophia Hines, from Frankford, Philadelphia, called a relative she was staying with, telling the relative she "needed to come home now."
The relative arrived to find Hines in the master bedroom of the home. Both children were lying side-by-side on the bed, unresponsive.
Investigators said officers responded to the scene and performed CPR on both children. However, attempts to revive the children failed, and both were declared dead at the scene.
THE WEEKEND STAR gathered that Hines admitted to taking a sheet to suffocate both children.
There were no outward signs of injuries to the children, and Hines gave no reason for her actions.
Hines was taken into custody, booked into the Broward County Jail early Thursday, and charged with two counts of premeditated murder.
Her husband of four months, Anthony Singleton, told reporters he couldn't believe the news.
Singleton's son was 7-month-old St Leo Hines Singleton, the younger of the two children killed.
