Slight decrease in road fatalities

The road safety unit is reporting a 2% decrease in roads fatalities.

The number of fatalities since the start of the year stands at 175 as at June 20, when compared to 178 in 2015.

One hundred and seventy-five persons have been killed in one hundred and fifty-two fatal crashes since the start of the year.

Fatal crashes 152, have decreased by seven per cent (7%) when compared with similar period in 2015, 164.

THE STAR gathered that Motorcyclists 49, and Pedestrians 35, account for twenty-eight per cent (28%) and twenty per cent  (20%) of the fatalities up to date in 2016.

In relation to gender, Males 153, account for eighty-seven per cent (87%) and females 22 account for thirteen per cent (13%) of fatalities since the beginning of the year.
