DEADLY ST ANN CRASH ...Three persons killed in Llandovery accident

The mangled remains of the Toyota Rav 4 and and public passenger vehicle which crashed along the Llandovery main road in St Ann, resulting in the deaths of five people last month.

Three persons perished in a deadly motor vehicle crash along the Llandovery main road in St. Ann last night.

The Constabulary Communications Unit (CCU) said two persons died on the spot while the other died in hospital.

A fourth person was hospitalised in serious condition.

Up to press time last night, the identities of the dead -- two males and one female -- were not known. 

The crash, which happened about 7:30 p.m., occurred in the vicinity of the Great River. It involved three vehicles -- a Toyota Corolla motor car, a  Honda Civic motor car, and an International truck.

According to the CCU, the victims were all travelling in the Honda motor car, which was coming from the Runaway Bay end, heading towards St Ann's Bay.

The Honda collided with the truck which was heading in the opposite direction. The cause of the crash could not be immediately ascertained at press time.

The police said none of the occupants of the Corolla or the truck were injured. 

Last night's crash took place in proximity to the scene of another deadly accident which claimed the lives of five persons last month.

Some 179 persons have died in traffic crashes since the start of the year.
