Man remanded for impregnating 12-y-o
A St Catherine man accused of sexually molesting a 12-year-old who reportedly got pregnant was remanded in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.
When the 26-year-old labourer appeared before Parish Judge Grace Henry-McKenzie, a bail application was denied. Henry-McKenzie ordered that he be remanded and said his attorney can renew the application when he returns to court next Wednesday.
The man's appearance arose from the child's pregnancy. He is accused of sexually molesting the child and the matter was brought to the fore when she started to act strange. A report was made to the police and initial checks revealed that the child was pregnant. The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years.
