Suspect in murder of 3-year-old charged
The police have charged the prime suspect involved in the brutal slaying of three-year-old Nevalesia Campbell in Orange Hill, St Ann.
Superintendent Wayne Cameron who heads the St. Ann police division told THE STAR that the suspect 19-year-old Alexus ‘Dal Dal’ Newland, the victims neighbour, was charged as at 5pm Wednesday.
When asked how soon the alleged suspect will be brought before the courts, SP Cameron said, “We have set a court date but we will not disclose as yet primarily because of security reasons. We will however disclose at a later date.”
Superintendent Cameron also told our news team that the child’s mother and stepfather would face the courts today.
They have been charged with breaches of the Child Care and Protection Act.
THE STAR gathered that they were alleged to be at a party when the child was chopped to death.
