Car thieves strike near Sabina Park

July 18, 2016

At least one car has been reported stolen and eight others broken into while their owners watched cricket at the Sabina Park over the weekend.

Sabina Park, located in Kingston, has been a bee-hive of activities since Friday when the Jamaica Tallawahs began playing games at home. The matches are being played at nights.

But as supporters go out to support Chris Gayle's men, the police has issued a caution to persons attending the 2016 Hero Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 tournament to utilise the official parking and shuttle system at the national stadium as provided by the event organisers‎.

"The police are advising patrons to cooperate with this parking arrangement and resist the temptation to choose alternative parking with no guaranteed security," the Constabulary Communication Unit (CCU) said in a statement.

Persons who live in and around Sabina Park have been offering parking to patrons who drive to the venue. These unsanctioned parking spots include open lots, sidewalks and spaces in business places and residences.
