Driver involved in Flat Bridge accident to be questioned
Senior Superintendent Anthony Powell says the police are to speak with the driver of the motor vehicle, which plunged in to the Bog Walk Gorge, killing six passengers Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle who was believed to have been among the fatalities, turned up at the Spanish Town police station yesterday.
The driver then confirmed with the police that he was at the wheels of the Suzuki Vitara when it went over the Flat Bridge.
Stephen Ricketts, Benjamin Ellis, Shaveon Ricketts, Shujay Ricketts and Shantel Morris all of Commodore district, Linstead in St Catherine, and Oneil Robinson, all perished in the mishap.
Earlier reports had said that Stephen Rickets was driving the vehicle when it plunged into the Rio Cobre.
When asked by our news team how soon charges will be laid, SSP Powell said, “It’s a process and investigations are ongoing. It was only yesterday he turned up at the police station.”
