Summer campers, TPDCo clean beach

July 25, 2016

Approximately 100 participants of the Identity Purpose Attitude Destiny (IPAD) Youth Empowerment and Mentorship Summer Camp 2016 along with a team from the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) carried out a massive clean up excise at the Negril Beach Park in Westmoreland on Saturday.

Robert Warren, project manager of the Negril Division of the TPDCo and Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) coordinators of the camp, headed by Inspector Jacqueline Dillon, ensured the day was a productive and successful one.

The day's activities centered on the area adjoining the Negril Craft Market, and included cutting of the shrubs, the raking and bagging of leaves and other debris. There was a marked improvement to cleanliness of the beach when the team ended and beach goers expressed appreciation for their efforts.

"It's wonderful to see young people taking an interest in their community," one woman was heard saying.

The two-week, TPDCo-sponsored camp continues yesterday with a church service at Petersfield High School Auditorium. The camp ends on Friday, July 29.
