Police Commish on sick leave
Illness has forced Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams to take a leave of absence. Williams was last week admitted to hospital for an undisclosed illness.
The commissioner is now recuperating. Deputy Commissioner Glenmore Hinds is now in charge of the police force.
"DCP Hinds is known for his professional conduct, his experience, and his ability for strategic planning. The JCF and the country are in very safe hands," National Security Minister Robert Montague said.
"I wish to assure the country that DCP Hinds is fit for the job at this time. Equally, we wish to reassure the commissioner and his family of the Government's high consideration as he seeks to recover his full health," the minister added.
