Jamaican among three held at sea with ganja

A Jamaican is among three men, including two Vincentians, who were remanded in custody at a state prison in Dominica when they appeared in court last Friday to answer to marijuana charges.

According to www.dominicanewsonline.com, the men, Ralph James from Jamaica, and Jeffrey Stapleton and Alwin Lawrence of St Vincent and the Grenadines, were arrested after the Marine Unit intercepted an open keel boat.

THE STAR gathered that the vessel contained 490 pounds of weed.

A police spokesperson said the boat came from Antigua and was held off the coast of Scotts Head, south west of the island last Thursday.

The men were charged for possession of marijuana and possession with intent to supply an illegal drug.
