CISOCA TO TAKE OVER SHOE-BOX-BABY CASE

The Centre For Investigation Of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) will be taking over the case involving the a one-day old baby that was abandoned in a shoe box.

The police's Corporate Communications Unit today said that both the mother of the child and the baby are in hospital. 

Detectives in Clarendon, who are now investigating the case, are preparing to have the files over to CISOCA, the CCU said.

According to the police, the 16-year-old schoolgirl, believed to be the mother of baby, was picked up on Monday, two days after her newborn was left outside the Chapelton Hospital in Clarendon.

CISOCA is a branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force which is responsible for investigating incidents of sexual offences and child abuse.
