Floyd Green, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, said that provisions are being made for children in State care to receive prompt response at public health care facilities, such as clinics and hospitals, islandwide.

"It is unfair for our caregivers to sit and wait all day for a child to be treated at a public health facility," Green said during a special meeting held on Tuesday at the Jamaica Conference Centre with operators and managers of private child care facilities.

"It is unfair for the child too, especially if that child has special needs. This is why I have engaged the Health Ministry to address such an issue, because the care and protection of our children is a national effort and as a government we have to work together," Green said.

Green said that the care and protection of children is a partnership between the Government of Jamaica and the home operators.
