Chinese woman held with fake rum

A woman of Chinese decent is to appear in the Manchester Parish Court on August 31 to answer to charges of unauthorised use of trademark and illegal possession of excisable goods.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the accused, 29-year-old Jinru Huang, was held with 198 bottles of counterfeit rum at her business place.

Reports are that police carried out a search at Huang's establishment, located on Manchester Road in the parish, on Wednesday.

The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the police's information arm, say that a special operation was carried out in the area, when the bottles of counterfeit rum were discovered. Huang was offered bail in the sum of $250,000.
