Banana thief caught on camera
A man who was caught on camera stealing bananas from a property, pleaded guilty when he appeared in the Linstead chapter of the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.
He is Oliver Stone, a 32-year-old unemployed man of Bog Walk, St Catherine.
When Stone appeared before Parish Judge Jacqueline Wilcott, he pleaded guilty to praedial larceny.
He was remanded until October 10 when a social enquiry report is to be completed for him to be sentenced.
Allegations are that on June 25, the accused was caught on the surveillance camera at Tulloch Estate, where he stole six bunches of bananas valued at $14,200.
A report was made to the Bog Walk police and Stone was arrested and charged by District Constable Evan Chambers.
The court heard that he had six previous larceny convictions for acts that were committed at the same estate.
