19-y-o held arrested for illegal gun

A 19-year-old man was taken into custody following the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition on Seivwright Close, Kingston 11, yesterday.

Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that about 2:35 a.m., lawmen were on patrol when a pedal cyclist, on seeing the police, allegedly rode off and a firearm fell from him. He was accosted and the weapon - a 9mm Browning pistol and 21 rounds - was seized.

He was subsequently arrested, however, his identity is being withheld.

Meanwhile, 60-year-old Curtis Armstrong of Nugent district, Middle Quarters, St Elizabeth, died of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle collision on Baptist Road in the parish on Saturday.

Reports from the Black River police are that about 7:30 p.m., Armstrong was riding a bicycle along the roadway, when he was hit by a truck. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations continue into both incidents.
