No one can deny the tough economic times in which the Jamaican society is operating. Parents everywhere are faced with the difficulty of having to take care of back-to-school expenses.

In an effort to lessen these demands for employees and their families, Sandals and Beaches Negril hosted family fun days at their respective properties.

The events, held last Wednesday, saw a number of parents and children showing up for the fun, food and financial aid.

A seemingly pleased Tameca Sutherland and Oneika Frazer, human resource managers at Sandals and Beaches Negril, respectively, said that the events were a success and the management teamS were happy to help employees and their family members shoulder the back-to-school burden. Staff members were assisted with school items, tuition and other necessities, while the kids were treated to games, rides and face painting.

One father, Alduney Green, said he is thankful to the resorts for making such a well-needed event possible.

"This is a good event. I don't see a lot of companies doing this. It helps us and it helps the children with their little books and stuff. I believe this is a wonderful venture, so I thank them," Green said.
