Seven Clarendon residents fined for stealing water

September 05, 2016

In one of its most recent revenue recovery efforts in Clarendon, seven persons were prosecuted and fined for trespassing on the works of the National Water Commission.

All seven persons were fined $150,000 or six months imprisonment when they appeared in the Clarendon Parish Court recently.

According to NWC, three arrest warrants have also been issued for persons facing similar charges, while another three delinquent customers, accused of illegal connection, will have their day in court on Thursday.

Based on those developments, the NWC is reminding "persons who continue to trespass on its work that it has stepped up its operations across the island, and those caught will be prosecuted and made to pay outstanding sums which might have accrued as a result of the illegal activities."
