One-year-old child among three murdered in St Mary
The community of Fort George in Annotto Bay, St Mary, has been plunged into mourning following the murder of three persons, including a one-year-old child, this morning.
Dr Winston Green, the Member of Parliament for South East St Mary, told THE STAR that the community has been shaken up by the killings.
Police have not yet established a motive for the shooting even though some residents believe that it may be linked to a domestic dispute.
Green, meanwhile, said that more needs to be done to make the Annotto Bay area safe for residents.
“The police needs to be more active in the Annotto Bay area. There are guns and gangs in the area, and although there is a resource issue, I believe a lot more can be done,” Green said.
The MP said that this morning's shooting is the second triple murder in Annotto Bay in recent years. He said that the state needs to assist with more social intervention programmes.
Three persons were murdered in Fort George in 2013 after gunmen barged into a house and opened fire on the victims. Those killed were 27-year-old Dwayne Harris, 41-year-old David McIntosh and his common-law wife, 44-year-old Maureen Pinnock.
