September 09, 2016

Latoya Williams, an employee of an aviation services company based at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, who is charged for various breaches of the Dangerous Act, was granted bail when she appeared in the St James Parish Court on Tuesday.

Williams was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 with one or two sureties, and is to return to court on November 15.

Reports are that on August 11 authorities at the airport noticed irregularities with a piece of luggage marked for departure. Lawmen were alerted, and a subsequent search revealed 12 parcels of compressed ganja weighing 61 pounds. Further checks revealed that the bag did not belong to any passenger and that Williams had acted to facilitate the movement of $400,000 worth of ganja out of the country.
