Two communities to get firefighting kits

September 13, 2016

The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) is to hand over firefighting kits to teams in two communities who have completed critical training in Bush Fire Management.

The project, which received £70,000 (J$12.6 million) funding from the British High Commission, began as a pilot under the ‘National Community Fire and Life Safety Education Programme’ in the Mavis Bank community in St Andrew and Nain in St Elizabeth.

At the closing ceremony, which takes place at Sabina Park on September 13, the JFB will be handing over first-aid firefighting kits to the trained ‘fire watch’ teams in both communities, as well as introduce two billboards which will be erected to bear the do’s and dont's of fire prevention.
