1,700 pounds of ganja seized in St Ann

Operatives attached to the Narcotics Division seized one Go-fast 30 foot boat laden with ganja off the coast of Draxhall in St Ann yesterday.

Reports are that about 10 a.m., the Narcotics and Marine police carried out an operation in the Draxhall area where the search of a boat yielded 38 knitted bags containing ganja weighing approximately 1,700 pounds. The drug has an estimated street value of approximately $7 million.

The boat, two 250-horse power engines, gallons of petrol, items of food, and other equipment used at sea were also seized.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Investigations continue.
