Cops seize 15 firearms in five days
Although Jamaica has been gearing up to face Hurricane Matthew since last week, the police managed to seize 15 illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition in five days during operations across the island.
Five pistols, five revolvers and five rifles have been seized during islandwide operations since last Thursday. St James accounted for five seizures, while the remaining 10 weapons were found in six other parishes. Several persons have also been arrested in connection with these seizures.
Since the launch of the ‘Get the Guns’ campaign a year ago, more than 675 firearms have been seized. Area One has accounted for 213, of which 118 were seized in St James.
