Fugitive arrested for murder

October 13, 2016

Months of collaboration and investigation between the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch (C-TOC) and United States law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of a Jamaican fugitive in Black River, St Elizabeth, last Monday.
He has been identified as 53-year-old Dale Ainsley Ewers of Mountainside district, St Elizabeth, who was wanted in Florida for first-degree murder, robbery using a deadly weapon, sexual battery, and kidnapping with a deadly weapon.
It is alleged that on September 21, 1990, Ewers committed the offences and later fled to Jamaica. However, on Monday, following collaboration with the police officers from Florida and C-TOC, a warrant of arrest under the Extradition Act of 1991 was executed on him.
He appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday for extradition proceedings and was remanded until November 08.
