Five men and two women on jury for 'X6 murder trial'
Five men and two women have been selected to sit on the jury for the murder trial of businessman Patrick Powell.
Powell was charged with murder and shooting with intent arising from the death of 17-year-old Kingston College student Kahjeel Mais in July 2011 in Havendale, St Andrew.
Mais was travelling in a taxi that collided with a BMW X6 sports utility vehicle.
It's reported that after the crash the driver of the luxury vehicle got out of his car and fired a bullet into the taxi before fleeing the scene.
Powell has pleaded not guilty.
High Court judge Lloyd Hibbert today announced that members of the public will be able to enter the court room at the Home Circuit Court to observe the trial.
After the announcement, several persons outside the court room were allowed to enter.
Firearm cases are generally tried on a Gun Court indictment, which stipulates that the trial should be closed to the public.
