Man on wounding charge freed
A St Catherine man had a case of unlawful wounding dismissed against him after it was revealed to the court that the complainant is now a wanted man.
Mark Burke, a labourer of Bog Walk, St Catherine, was freed when he made his appearance.
When the matter came up in the Linstead chapter of the St Catherine Parish Court on Wednesday, his attorney Donovan Williams argued that his client had been attending court since 2014, while the complainant failed to appear.
It was confirmed by the clerk of court that the complainant, Santigo Walker, is indeed wanted for a similar offence.
The matter was subsequently dismissed. Meanwhile, Walker is being sought by the police.
Allegations are that in 2014, Burke caught the complainant stealing apples from his property.
He allegedly intervened and was stoned by the complainant. This resulted in Burke being hit.
However, the complainant later reported that he was cut by Burke.
An investigation was launched, and this resulted in both men being charged with unlawful wounding.
