The meaning of Christmas for 400 Jamaican children came again this year in the form of shoes delivered by the Payless Shoes4Kids Programme from Payless ShoeSource.

Payless continued its partnership with the Child Development Agency (CDA) by treating 25 of these special children to a fun day out, including a shoe-shopping spree and a movie.

Nekeisha Critchlow, Jamaica country manager at Payless ShoeSource, was on hand at the Sovereign Centre branch as Payless staff assisted the children, carefully measuring their feet to guarantee that they received the perfect fit in their shoe size.

Critchlow said this year's Shoes4Kids event was extra special for Payless management and staff as the availability of character-themed shoes put even brighter smiles on the faces of the children.

"This year, the children had a wider variety of kids' shoes to choose from, including the Champion athletic shoes, and the very popular character-themed shoes from Disney, Nickelodeon and Marvel, which certainly put a brighter smile on their faces," she said.

Payless provided the CDA with a total of 400 gift coupons valued at J$3,000 each, redeemable at any of Payless' 15 locations.

CEOof the CDA Rosalee Gage-Grey thanked Payless for its continuing commitment to the children.

"This year marks the fifth year since you have poured out your spirit of generosity towards our children, which I consider to be an extraordinary gesture. We are heartened by Payless for taking the time out to bring some cheer to our children during this special season," she said.

The Payless Shoes4Kids programme is an international initiative that benefits children wherever Payless operates across the world.
