Alleged car thieves offered bail

February 09, 2017

Two men who were held in a stolen motor car were offered bail in the sum of $350,000 each when they appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

Those charged with larceny are Asheed Prince and Paul Rose of Kingston.

Allegations before the court are that on January 3, the owner of a 2011 Nissan Tiida motor car parked the vehicle at Fairview Park in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

At about 4 a.m., he realised the vehicle was missing. The matter was reported to the police and a search launched to recover it.

About 9 a.m., police on patrol in Bedward Gardens, Kingston, saw the vehicle being driven by Prince.

The vehicle was stopped and certain observations made about missing parts on it.

No satisfactory account was given as to how the men came in possession of the vehicle.

They were taken into custody and further investigations revealed that the men had stolen the car.

They were subsequently charged with larceny of motor car.

Both men are to appear in court on March 28, when the matter will again be mentioned.
