Man tries to smuggle ganja into prison
A St Catherine man who went to a correctional centre and attempted to give ganja, cigarettes, and rizzlers to an inmate, was fined $1,000, or 10 days' imprisonment, for breaches of the Corrections Act.
He is Damion Bailey, a labourer of Portmore.
Bailey pleaded guilty when he appeared before judge Alicia McIntosh.
The court heard that on January 11, Bailey was visiting the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre in St Catherine.
When he tried to give an inmate the items, his efforts were thwarted by correctional services personnel.
The police were called and he was subsequently charged.
