Fire brigade tackles Jacks Hill blaze
Officials at the Jamaica Fire Brigade say they responded to reports of a fire in the Jacks Hill area last night.
Emeleo Ebanks, public relations officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, told our news team that the fire department was made aware of the blaze by a caller.
He said: "We got a call and actually sent out a unit. The caller said it was near Skyline Drive."
THE STAR was told that the magnitude of the blaze was unknown.
Our news team asked about an alleged bush fire that was seen in the vicinity of Jacks Hill since Tuesday night.
There were also reports of what appeared to be assistance from a helicopter moving to and from the area.
Ebanks, however, told THE STAR that he was unaware of that incident.
When contacted, the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) civil military cooperation and media affairs officer, Major Basil Jarrett, told our news team that he would have to make checks to ascertain the credibility of the report.
However, he maintained that the JDF typically supports the fire department so he would not be surprised.
Up to press time, there was no confirmation of a fire raging from Tuesday night, or of the cause of last night's blaze.
