Two policemen who allegedly collected $300,000 to free a man charged with murder have been arrested and charged with corruption offences.

"We have no other reports, but we are looking at all the cases they handled to see if there are gaps in them," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Ealan Powell, the head of the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

One of the policemen has been identified as Corporal Roger Taylor, who is assigned to the Hunts Bay Police Station in the St Andrew South Division.

The identity of the second cop believed to be a constable also assigned to the Hunts Bay Police Station could not be immediately ascertained.
