Man beats up sister's boyfriend
A man who attacked his sister's lover, allegedly in her defence, will be tried for assault in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on June 5.
Ryan Burke offered a plea of guilty with explanation when his matter was mentioned on Wednesday.
Burke, who is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and assault at common law, told the court that he was merely defending his sister.
"Your Honour, mi inna mi room and hear she a bawl out say 'murder, murder, leggo mi neck'."
Burke said he went to investigate he saw the complainant squeezing his sister's throat, as she stood helplessly.
The accused told parish judge Simone Wolfe-Reece that he intervened and the complaint threatened to shoot him.
"When him tell mi that mi go for him," Burke said.
