Two killed, teen injured in gang war
The gang warfare that continues to plague a section of Maxfield Avenue in St Andrew took another deadly turn on Sunday after two men were killed and others were left nursing gunshot wounds.
Information reaching THE STAR is that a triple shooting took place in the community, and when the explosions ended 57-year-old Neville ' Smokey' White, a cabinetmaker of Glen Road, Kingston 13, and a 25-year-old man known only as 'Fabian' of Petronia Road, Kingston 11, were found dead.
Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that about 8 p.m., citizens were standing along the roadway when armed men approached and opened gunfire hitting them.
THE STAR gathered that a similar attack took place in a different section of the Maxfield area known as Fitzgerald Avenue at about the same time as the previous shooting.
In this instance, a group of persons were shot at and three were hit, including a 15-year-old boy who was admitted to hospital in a stable condition.
The corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary force (JCF) confirmed the reports and said investigations are ongoing.
A resident told THE STAR that the ongoing warfare is tearing the area apart because innocent people are being killed.
"The man dem just a turn dem gun down the road dem, and anybody pick up gunshot a just so. Dem nah look fi a specific man again. A anybody. Old people, women and children nuh safe," the resident said.
