Cabbie killed by men posing as passengers

Investigators in St Mary are probing the circumstances under which a taxi operator was shot and killed in the parish on Monday night.

Information reaching THE STAR is that men posing as passengers brandished hand guns and opened fire, killing 25-year-old Giorgio 'Dangles' Thompson.

Our news team understands the incident occurred along Roslyn Road in Port Maria.

According to reports from the Port Maria police, about 11:20 p.m., Thompson was travelling with a female on board from Port Maria, when gunmen allegedly boarded his taxi along the Roslyn Road.

The men reportedly began to rob Thompson of his cell phone, cash and jewellery.

He was repeatedly shot before the men made their escape.

Thompson was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

THE STAR gathered that the female passenger was not harmed.

Investigations are ongoing.
