May 10, 2017

A St Catherine man who allegedly stole the phone that was lent to him was found guilty of simple larceny when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

He is Darnel Watson, a 40-year-old labourer of Old Harbour, St Catherine.

When Watson appeared before Parish Judge Grace Henry-McKenzie, after hearing the Crown's case, he was found guilty of simple larceny.

One year later

Allegations are that in June 2015, the accused man borrowed the complainant's Alcatel cell phone to make a call.

He reportedly fled with the phone. The man made a report to the Old Harbour police, who launched an investigation into the matter.

The complainant spotted Watson one year later in the fishing village in Old Harbour and called the police.

He was arrested and charged with simple larceny.
