A market vendor was fatally shot while selling his goods yesterday inside the Coronation Market in downtown Kingston.

This brings to two, the numbers of vendors who fell victim to the bullet in the commercial area in just over a week.

Yesterday, 45-year-old Kirk Morgan, a resident of west Kingston, succumbed to his injuries an hour after being rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 12:30 p.m., Morgan was in the market plying his trade when he was attacked and shot.

Our news team understands that the gunmen made good their escape following a brief shoot-out with a police team whom they encountered after they shot Morgan.

Yesterday's murder follows a series of threats and attack on market vendors.

On May 6, another vendor, 27-year-old Tavan Rowe of a west Kingston address, was also shot and killed while selling in the market.

THE STAR gathered that a masked man pounced upon Rowe and opened fire hitting him several times before escaping in the market.

The west Kingston police told THE STAR that both incidents are being investigated.

Vendors have expressed to THE STAR that they are concerned about their safety and as such are calling on the security forces to take action.
