Cop convicted of sexual charges
A police corporal who was charged with indecent assault and grievous sexual assault was convicted in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.
The accused was assigned to the police National Intelligence Bureau.
The Crown led evidence that on April 6, 2015, the accused made advances at the complainant, which she spurned.
The accused reportedly touched the complainant and repeatedly forced himself on her, even fondling her private areas.
A report was subsequently made to the police and an investigation launched.
A file was compiled and sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and a ruling handed down that he be charged.
The policeman's lawyer, Tameka Harris, successfully applied for his bail to be extended until August, when he will be sentenced.
