June 13, 2017

Omeal Riley, otherwise called ‘Twisted’ of Steer Town, St. Ann, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving on Friday after his daughter, two-year-old Omealia Riley, died as a result of injuries she received in a motor vehicle crash.

The accident took place along the Windsor main road in St Ann on Tuesday. Riley is scheduled to attend the St. Ann Parish Court on Thursday, July 06.

Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay Police are that about 10:40 p.m., Omealia was travelling with her parents along the mentioned roadway in a Toyota Tercel motor car. Upon reaching the intersection of the AGR Byfield Highway and the Windsor main road the driver — the deceased’s father — allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Toyota Wish motor car.

Omealia sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where she succumbed; her parents were admitted in serious but stable condition. The driver of the Toyota wish was treated and released.

Since the start of the year, 152 persons have died in road crashes.
