Man killed by two-by-four
The Mandeville police have held an elderly man, who is believed to be of unsound mind, for the murder of a senior citizen.
He allegedly hit the man in the head with a two-by-four. Dead is construction worker James Walters of a Patrick Road, Mandeville address, who was killed on Monday.
Our news team gathered that about 9:20 a.m., Walters was at home carrying out construction work when he was attacked.
Police report the accused man used a board to hit Walters across his head, causing him to fall.
The police were summoned and the body was found lying near a pit. Walters was subsequently taken into custody.
Residents have described Walters as a hard-working man and said he will be sadly missed.
Attempts to reach head of the Manchester police, Superintendent Wayne Cameron proved futile.
The Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the reports and told THE STAR that investigations are ongoing.
