Suspected drug trafficker for court tomorrow
Marisa Warren, 26, is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court tomorrow for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Warren, of Tenth Line West, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was held at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay last Thursday.
Reports are that at about 6:30 p.m., Warren was at the security checkpoint where she was about to be processed to board an Air Canada flight, destined for Toronto.
A search of her person was carried out and one cylindrical package was found strapped between her thighs. Further checks revealed a white powdery substance resembling cocaine, weighing two pounds.
She was arrested by detectives assigned to the Narcotics Police Division and subsequently arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, and taking steps to export cocaine.
The drug has an estimated street value of J$1.09 million.
