Thief shot by licensed firearm holder

A would-be robber, who was one of two men who tried to rob a motorist in a line of traffic was shot and injured yesterday.

Information reaching THE STAR is that a licensed firearm holder intervened and the unidentified man was shot and injured at the intersection of Half Way Tree Road and Carlton Crescent.

The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. and saw a pile-up of traffic on the busy main road.

THE STAR understands that the motorist's gold chain was pulled from his neck however the unsuccessful robber did not make it too far.

The police were summoned to the scene and the injured man was rushed to hospital.

Various forms of video recordings have since surfaced online of the injured man bleeding profusely from his abdomen.

A large crowd also converged at the scene and it appeared that eyewitnesses were imploring the injured man to go and find work.

His accomplice managed to escape. Up to press time, reports are that the injured man was still being treated at hospital.

The St Andrew Central police are investigating.
